My PB Crocodile Garfish!

It is not everyday that any of us catch a personal best, so I was pretty excited last week when I landed my biggest crocodile garfish! I was testing a prototype of a new lure from Rapala, the stickbait version of a XXX Rap. I was in the Seychelles and we were drifting near a little granite island, casting around shoals of fusiliers when the water exploded on my lure. The skipper up on the flying bridge called down that he thought it was a wahoo that had hit my lure, but then it came jumping out of the water and revealed itself to be a monster garfish! I got the skipper, Gareth Dovey, to hold the fish for a couple of pics and then we let it go again.

The XXX Rap stickbait impressed me and outfished all other lures on the day, getting fish such as green jobs, kingfish and even tuna to eat it and I had a sailfish try to eat it too. It is a sinking stcikbait, which requires very little effort to use. With its realistic finish, typical of all Rapala lures, it fools fish even in the clearest of water and with a very slow action. I am excited about this new addition to the Rapala stable.
