The Cedarburg can easily be mistaken for the Orange, with equivalent fishing.

Arguably one of the most special freshwater fish in South Africa.

They look pretty stunning with their dark black eyes

And dark layer on their back

That pic actually doesn’t do the color justice. Was overcast. Here is another where the colors came put much better. Certainly closer related to the large mouth

My first grunter on fly. Incredible how aggressive this fish can be on a surface fly when you think its nose is stuck in the mud most of the time. Sight fishing these is an adrenaline rush unto itself

Nice man! Where did you catch it? I’m going to the breede soon to try and get my first one so if it was at the breede some spots would be much appreciated

Hi Seb. What side of the river will you be on and do you have a boat? I have caught quite a few subsequently and the trick seems to be to target them on fly at first and last night. One of my favorite spots its if you walk up from the slipway at Mudlark and then fish the big bay after the jetty that runs out. Even the little one before that. U can get cob off all those rocks if they there. Otherwise…[Read more]

Good fish

It’s funny, you get the tiger with the big heads and long thin body and you get the others with small heads and fat bodies
-
Very true. I think a lot has to do with habitat. I have at least found and the same with bass, that generally the faster flowing river systems will have leaner longer fish while slower and lake systems hold fatter shorter fish. If u compare a Kariba tiger to a Zambezi tiger they very different. What was interesting was the guides above the falls…[Read more]
